A trip to the tree fort

They say that when you love what you do for a living, you’ll never work another day in your whole life!  That sounds so good…and yet most people are not living out their dreams or are they not on the path that God has for their life.  Maybe that’s you today.  Maybe you feel that God has called you to something and you are not fulfilling that dream.   The question is huge…I mean how can we really know God’s will for our lives.  Many years ago, I remember trying to find my way in the next piece of life’s journey.  And I remember saying…Lord, I really want to hear from you…and I gave my goals and dreams to him.  Sometimes, I need to get away to really hear from God. To really get quiet and still.  One April, I drove half way across country and friends of mine let me stay in their vacant trailor home ..in the middle of a field…somewhere in the middle of Arkasas. It was a way for me to take my own personal retreat.  As I spent time alone, I wandered the field, and found and oak tree with an abandoned old tree fort standing all by itself.  I climbed the rickety old steps and made my way up the ladder.  For the next week, I spent many afternoons in that old wooden tree fort…just seeking God…reading, listening, and giving him the desires of my heart. Trusting him. And giving those dreams back to him.  And I opened my bible and the scripture I read was in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and give you a future and a hope, and your hope will not be cut off.” I think that’s the first step to fulfilling those dreams, by giving them back to the one who gave you the desires in the first place.   Oh you don’t  need to climb up into a tree fort…but you can find one if you’d like to…but try getting to a place in life, where you can give your dreams to God…so that he can tailor make them just for you.  And stand back and watch…and the master creator, weaves his tapestry in your life, might just give them back to you …in a way you never expected… and help you begin to fulfill your journey and your dreams …like only He can do.
